The purpose of the Maryland Eagles Wrestling Club is to provide wrestlers of all ages and skill levels to opportunity to train, learn, improve, compete, and win at the youth, high school, state, national, college, international, and Olympic levels of competition. We train in folkstyle, greco-roman, and freestyle wrestling.
MD EAGLES WRESTLING CLUB HAS TWO YOUTH FOLKSTYLE TEAMS:
2016-17 registration for the Patriots (beginner/mid-level) and Eagles (advanced) season will begin in October. The season runs from November to February. Registration procedures will be forthcoming.
Mission for the Recreation League: Our Patriots are beginners and wrestle in the Montgomery County Youth Wrestling League (MYWL). The goal of the MYWL is to instill in kids a love of the sport of wrestling. The primary intent of this league is to be instructional, build confidence, and to have fun! Every effort is made to pair wrestlers of like skill for the weekly matches. This league feeds the more competitive Beltway league, for wrestlers that wish to advance to a more competitive level before reaching high school. Registration information will be forthcoming. Practice is held at Wooton HS.
Mission for the Advanced (Beltway) League: Our MD Eagles have wrestled for at least a year and have shown the ability to compete in the Capital Area Wrestling League (CAWL). The primary intent of the CAWL is to provide elite competition for the best young wrestlers in the region. This is a league based only on weight and not age and provides top level competition. This league is an excellent preparation for high school wrestlers. The top CAWL wrestlers become top high school wrestlers even as freshmen. The team competes in dual meets for 19 different weight classes from 50 to 235 pounds. The team has wrestle offs for each weight class and every attempt is made to ensure all of the wrestlers get a chance to compete each week. We will also offer wrestlers the opportunity to enter in several local tournaments to help gain experience. Registration information will be forthcoming. Practice is held at Bullis School (several practices will also be held at Landon).
